There are four different Berlinetta Boxer models. They are the 365 GT4 BB, the 512 BB, the 512 BBi, and the 512 BB LM.

Introduced in 1971 at the Turin auto show the 365 GT4 can be identified by the lack of a chin spoiler on the front end,

by the absence of a NACA duct on the side just in front of the rear wheel,

and most notably by having six tail lights and six exhaust pipe tips.

In 1976 the actual designation for the "Boxer"became the 512 BB.
In spite of this the name badges on the cars are BB 512.

There was a chin spoiler added to the front,

a NACA duct was added for rear brake cooling,

and on the rear end there were twin tail lights and exhaust tips.
Also the black mesh that was on the 365 became louvers.

In 1981 the Boxer came with fuel injection and the letter i was added to its official designation.
Parking lights were integrated into the bumper
and the grill now stopped short of the driving lights.

A new shroud was provided to the exhaust system,
which incorporated hazard warning lights.

The side NACA duct was finished in black
and the side mirror was body color.
